CORRIDOR ALLIANCE
INTRODUCTION: We have been formed to address issues in what was commonly referred to in the past as the Homeless Corridor. This section of the community is located in the Downtown area of the City of Las Vegas. The area contains the largest concentration of non-profit organizations that serve the homeless community.
Various government agencies operate in the area, such as the Las Vegas Library District, the State of Nevada, Cashman Field, the Lied Discovery Museum, the Las Vegas Museum of Natural History, as well as facilities of the City of Las Vegas.
The area has a business community that includes a local dairy, a television station, several funeral homes, and various small businesses that are impacted on a daily basis by the conditions in the corridor. In addition, an Indian Tribe maintains a reservation and smoke shop.
This area has over the years contained the largest number of homeless in the Southern Nevada region. It is bounded by Lake Mead to the north, Bonanza to the south, Bruce to the east and D Street to the west. Over the years various efforts have been undertaken to improve the conditions of the homeless, as well as assist the community at large who live and work in the area.
PURPOSE: To implement a comprehensive community based approach to deal with the Corridor and impact the homeless problem as a whole.
VISION: Safe Streets for all who live and work in the Corridor and to help get the homeless off the streets.
